The Viridian Energy Difference - Minimum 20% Renewable, Green Energy As part of our company mission, Viridian has chosen to exceed the green energy requirements in each state in which we operate. Pennsylvania mandates that every licensed electricity supplier obtain 9.22% of its electricity load from renewable sources. The electricity you get through Viridian’s Everyday Green plan is 20% green, while most of our competitors merely meet the 9.22% benchmark.

Simply by switching, a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours per month will reduce his or her carbon emissions by more than 2,000 pounds, which is the equivalent of planting 90 trees or of 1,675 miles not driven. The choice is clear. For those wanting to do more, Viridian offers Pennsylvania customers the opportunity to go 100% green through our Pure Green rate plan.

Clean Energy Suppliers

"Since 2004, the PUC has been working to implement the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards Act (AEPS), which encourages reliance on more environmentally friendly sources of energy and helps consumers take control of their energy requirements. AEPS requires that a certain percentage of all electric energy sold to retail customers comes from alternative energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydropower.
Some suppliers use renewable resources to generate electricity by a mix of sources, or only one source. Suppliers should be able to tell you the percent of renewable resources that is part of their generation."
